State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on US 6 near Bremen
Marshall County – The Indiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a Plymouth man dead after the car he was driving struck a semi tractor trailer head on. The accident happened Wednesday night around 10:30 p.m. on US 6 just west of SR 106 near Bremen.
Initial investigation by the state police revealed that an east bound Chrysler 200, driven by 23 year-old Skylar Evans, of Plymouth, crossed over the center line and into the path of a west bound semi tractor trailer. The Kenworth semi was being driven by Shawn Vanderveer, 36, of Wauseon, Ohio. Vanderveer was hauling a steel coil that detached from the trailer after the impact narrowly missing him in the cab of the truck as it rolled forward.
Evans was pronounced dead at the scene and Vanderveer suffered minor injuries in the crash.
At this time there is no indication on what caused the vehicle to go left of center, commented Trooper Pat O’Keefe. The state police are waiting for toxicology results on Evans which may take several weeks.
