Three Lowell Troopers Honored at Awards Ceremony
(Indianapolis, IN)-Three Troopers from the Lowell District were honored recently at an awards ceremony at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis.
Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter presented Corporal Daniel Becker and Troopers Brandon Bohling and Paul Arnold awards for their service to the State of Indiana.
Corporal Daniel Becker was awarded a Lifesaving Award for his action on December 28, 2015. Becker while working Post Command found himself in a lifesaving situation. A motorist pulled into the front parking lot of the Lowell Post, ran into the building, and stated that he thought his passenger was having a heart attack. Corporal Becker grabbed the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and ran out to assess the situation without hesitation. Becker found the subject unresponsive, without a pulse, and not breathing. Becker utilized the AED, without effect, and then began CPR. Corporal Becker applied a second shock when instructed by the AED, and this time the subject responded with a “moan”. Becker then discovered that the subject, now had a pulse. Becker stayed with the subject, monitoring his vitals, until Emergency Medical Services arrived. The subject was transported by ambulance to the hospital where he eventually made a full recovery. Corporal Becker is “commended for his extraordinary conduct in saving the life of a fellow human being”. Corporal Becker has served with the Indiana State Police for fourteen years. He resides in Jasper County with his family.
Trooper Brandon Bohling was awarded the 2015 Lowell District Trooper of the Year. This award was presented to Bohling for achieving outstanding enforcement efforts in the areas of traffic and criminal enforcement, case and crash investigations, public information programs and community service; and for exemplifying the professionalism and integrity expected of an Indiana State Trooper. Trooper Bohling has served with the Indiana State Police for over three years. He resides in Porter County.
Trooper Paul Arnold was awarded the O.W. I. Award for his efforts in removing impaired and intoxicated motorists from Indiana roadways. Arnold was also awarded for being one of the top five troopers in arresting 81 impaired drivers in 2015. Trooper Arnold has served with the Indiana State Police for almost 2 years. He resides in Porter County with his family.
