4/16/16, press release - Assault & Robbery
On April 16th, 2016, at approximately 2:49AM, Burlington Police Officers were dispatched to the area of South Winooski Avenue / College Street, Burlington Vermont for a report of an Assault. While Officers were responding, dispatch advised that a group of male subjects assaulted a victim and property was taken. According to witnesses the subjects fled the scene in a silver Volvo vehicle and was last seen heading east on Main Street.
Officers subsequently located the vehicle on Main Street as it was pulling in the Maplefield’s next to the Staples Plaza. The vehicle was occupied by five males. Officers could clearly see the property that was taken from the victim inside the vehicle.
Investigation revealed that Ramon Burgos assaulted the victim and Tyler Hastings took the property from the victim.
The victim was injured. The victim was evaluated by Burlington Fire and Rescue.
Both Burgos and Hastings were lodged at county jail on charges of Assault and Robbery and Possession of Stolen Property, pending court arraignment on Monday, April 18th, 2016.
It should be noted that in recent weeks there had been several assaults in the same general vicinity with similar suspect descriptions. It is suspected that these incidents could be related.
