Death Investigation Underway-UPDATE-Autopsy Completed
North Vernon-This morning, an autopsy was completed on Jama, D. Brown, age 49, North Vernon, Indiana. Brown was found deceased in a lake in the 1900 Block of East County Road 100 South, near North Vernon, Indiana on Saturday, April 16.
Following the autopsy, the Jennings County Coroner’s Office made a determination that the cause of death was from drowning. Toxicology results are pending in this case. It could take four to six weeks for the toxicology results to come back on Brown. At this time, foul play is not suspected in Brown’s death. It is unclear at this time why Brown ended up in the lake where she was found.
The Jennings County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police continue the investigation.

North Vernon-The Indiana State Police and Jennings County Sheriff’s Department are currently conducting a death investigation after a body was found in a lake in the 1900 Block of East County Road 100 South, just south of Vernon, Indiana.
The investigation began at approximately 4:00 p.m. today when the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area after a caller reported spotting the body in a nearby lake. Indiana State Police Detectives were soon requested to respond to the scene to assist the sheriff’s department with the ongoing investigation. Indiana Conservation Officers also responded and provided K-9’s and other resources.
The victim was identified as Jama D. Brown, age 49, North Vernon, Indiana. The victim’s family has been notified.
