Woman Injured While Fleeing Trooper Handcuffed
Floyd County- On today’s date shortly before 1:00 pm, Trooper Nathan Abbott initiated a traffic stop on a white Toyota Camry East Bound on Interstate #64 just before the Sherman Minton Bridge in New Albany.
As Trooper Abbott began investigating, he found out there was a problem with the driver’s license of the driver. He placed the driver in handcuffs and was preparing to put her in the front seat of his vehicle when she put one leg over the guard rail and started fleeing from Trooper Abbott.
While fleeing, she stumbled down the wooded/grassy area just south of the interstate, rolling over a concrete retaining wall for Interstate #64. She fell approximately 17 feet onto the pavement of Lafayette Street below.
E.M.S. was called to the scene and transported the female to the University Hospital in Louisville, KY with life threatening injuries.
During a search of the vehicle, suspected Heroin and syringes were located.
The name of the female driver is not being released at this time due to the pending and continuing investigation.
