BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports that, with the assistance of the Morley Police Department, a Perryville man arrested for Kidnapping, Burglary, Felonious Restraint, and Weapon Charges.
Clint E. Arrington (47) has been charged with the Class B Felony of Kidnapping, the Class B Felony of Burglary First Degree, the Class C Felony of Felonious Restraint, the Class D Felony of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, an Unclassified Felony of Armed Criminal Action, and the Class A Misdemeanor of Violation of an Order of Protection.
Sheriff Walter states that on Thursday, April 7, 2016 that the Morley Police Department contacted the Sheriff’s Office to assist with a missing person report that had suspicious circumstances. The victim’s residence was left unlocked and her purse was located inside. The victim could not be reached by her cellular phone.
The victim’s boyfriend, Arrington, had been arrested on March 31, 2016 for violating an order of protection in which the victim was listed as the protected party. Arrington posted bond on April 4, 2016 and could not be contacted. Arrington’s cellular phone showed it was in the Cape Girardeau area, then traveling south into Illinois, and then into Kentucky. A nationwide broadcast was sent out to stop Arrington.
Arrington and the victim were later located in Medina, Tennessee. Arrington attempted to flee on foot but was caught by the Medina Police Department. The victim told police that Arrington had forced her from her residence and threatened to harm her family. Medina Police Department arrested Arrington for numerous felony charges.
Detectives later spoke with the victim when she arrived back in Scott County. The victim told detectives that Arrington woke her up the night of April 7, 2016 as he stood in the bedroom holding a flashlight. Arrington was dressed in all black clothing, hat, and gloves. Arrington told the victim that he broke in the back door and that she had to leave with him. Arrington told the victim that he had a knife and would harm her family if she did not go with him. Arrington did show the victim a knife later and was located with a knife by the Medina Police Department.
The victim stated Arrington forced her to leave in a vehicle and drove her to Perryville, Missouri before driving into Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The victim stated Arrington was smoking drugs and acting paranoid and erratic the whole trip. She believed if she tried to escape Arrington would harm her. Arrington already had food and drinks in the vehicle and would not stop anywhere. When Arrington did stop for fuel, he made the victim stand next to him.
Arrington remains in custody in Tennessee. He will be transported to the Scott County Jail once extradition papers are signed. Bond was set by the court at $250,000 cash only.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Morley Police Department with their assistance during the investigation.
