In response to a citizen's call of a woman screaming for help, SPD officers discover an unreported stolen vehicle.
On Tuesday, April 26th at about 7:15am, Sebastopol Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Pleasant Hill Road and Bodega Avenue for a woman in an orange truck who was reportedly yelling for help. Officers were able to intercept the truck in the Downtown core.
As officers tried to stop the vehicle, it turned onto eastbound Burnett Street and then southbound on Petaluma Avenue, which is a one-way northbound street. The vehicle finally stopped in the parking lot of the Hopmonk Tavern.
Upon contact, the driver was making incoherent statements. Investigation revealed the driver had stolen the vehicle from North Street in Santa Rosa after going through other vehicles in that neighborhood.
The driver was arrested for vehicle theft and booked into the County Jail. There it was determined that she had provided the arresting officer a false name. Her true name was determined to be Rachel Rose Ackerman, a 32 year old transient. Using the true name, it was determined she had a $10,000.00 warrant for her arrest for battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. She is being held in the Sonoma County Jail on $20,000.00 bail.
