This edition of Inside APD highlights some of the milestone's that APD reached in 2015. The department established a program called "Coach 5-0." By partnering with the Arlington ISD Athletics Department, a new mentoring opportunity presented itself. The goal is simple - APD Officers mentoring student athletes.

The department invested heavily into a new initiative called, "Mentoring Arlington Youth" (MAY) Program. Officers and other community leaders are partnered with at-risk youth through a standardized curriculum life skills and set teens on a pathway for success.

APD met with Walmart executives to see how stores could partner with us. One of the underlying goals was to move from a reactive model to a more of a preventative role thereby reducing theft offenses.
