Miami County –   Two recent narcotic investigations by members of the CLEAN Team resulted in five people being arrested on various drug related charges.

An investigation by the CLEAN Team resulted in the arrests of Shana Kunkle, 21, Peru, IN, Gregory Yike, 25, and Nicholas Army, 31, both from Logansport, IN.  Officers responded to a reported fight at 2930 South Hilltop Drive, Apartment 7, in Peru, IN. While at the apartment officers allegedly observed evidence that Yike had purportedly attempted to strangle Kunkle.  They also observed indicators of possible illegal drug use. During a subsequent search of the apartment, officers allegedly found synthetic marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. Officers also found Nicholas Army hiding in a couch. He was wanted on a body attachment warrant. Officers also allegedly found drug paraphernalia on his person. Army was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail for possession of drug paraphernalia. Kunkle was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail for possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, assisting a criminal, possession of a synthetic look-a-like substance, and possession of paraphernalia. Yike was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and strangulation.

A separate investigation by officers from the CLEAN Team and the Miami County Probation Department resulted in the arrest of Weston Baber, 22, and Melinda Wethington, 25, both from Peru, IN. Recently, officers from the CLEAN Team assisted the Miami County Probation Department with a probationer check at a home on 253 ½ West Fifth Street, Peru, IN.  When officers made entry into the home, they allegedly observed indicators of illegal drug use.  Officers applied for and were granted a Miami County search warrant for the home. During a subsequent search of the residence, officers allegedly found syringes and drug paraphernalia.  The investigation also revealed that Wethington had an active arrest warrant issued from Miami Superior Court II. Wethington was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail on the arrest warrant. She also faces additional charges for maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.  Baber was incarcerated in the Miami County Jail to face criminal charges for possession of a syringe, possession of paraphernalia, and visiting a common nuisance.  Baber and Wethington were both on probation at the time of their arrests.
