Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, announced that fire investigators from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Flemington Borough Police Department investigated a fire at Café Cicchetti, 19 Stangl Road, Flemington, NJ, on Monday, May 2nd.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “The fire appears to have started in the attic of the establishment. The structure sustained significant damage to the attic and roof and there was water damage throughout the restaurant. The preliminary results of the investigation indicate the fire was not suspicious and the cause remains officially undetermined at this time. The investigation is ongoing.”
Prosecutor Kearns concluded, “I commend the dedication and commitment of the volunteer firefighters from Hunterdon County for their quick response to this fire which helped avoid further loss. We are very fortunate to have such a fine volunteer system of brave men and women.”
The Hunterdon County Arson Task Force is comprised of specially trained police officers, volunteer firefighters, as well as HCPO Detectives that work in conjunction with the State Police Arson/Bomb Squad and the NJ Fire Marshal K-9 Unit to investigate major fires in the county.
