Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, announced that fire investigators from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Delaware Township Police Department investigated a fire at 88 Kingwood Stockton Road Delaware Township, New Jersey, on May 3, 2016

Township Police along with Stockton Fire Company responded to a 911 call at approximately 3:53 p.m. May 3, 2016.

According to Prosecutor Kearns, “The fire appears to have started in a 3rdf loor apartment. The structure sustained significant fire damage to the roof and the 3rd floor apartment. There was extensive water damage throughout the rest of the 3-story building which houses an additional two apartments on the 2ndfloor, an apartment on the first floor in the rear of the building and The Rosemont Café on the 1st floor. The Rosemont Café opened in September 2015. The building recently underwent extensive renovations. The preliminary results of the investigation indicate the fire was not suspicious and the cause remains officially undetermined at this time. The investigation is ongoing.”

Emergency crews from Amwell Valley Fire Company, Bloomsbury Hose, Glen Gardner Fire Company, Holland Fire Company, Flemington Fire Company, Quakertown Fire Company, Milford Fire Company, Raritan Township Fire Company, Sergeantsville Fire Company, Three Bridges Fire Company, West Amwell Fire Company, responded to aid in extinguishing the fire. This section of Kingwood Road is very remote, Kearns stated, and tankers from multiple agencies were ferrying water into the scene. Members of Kingwood Volunteer Rescue Squad, Lambertville Rescue Squad and Flemington/Raritan Rescue Squad were on scene. Two fire fighters were injured during the incident. Both were treated and later released

According to Kearns, two Mercer County Fire Companies, Hopewell Fire Company and Titusville Fire Company, as well as three Bucks County Fire Companies, New Hope Fire Company, Upper Black Eddy Fire Company and Midway Fire Company also responded to the scene to assist while Clinton Fire Company and Readington Volunteer Fire Company provided local coverage for some of the responding Fire Companies.

Prosecutor Kearns concluded, “I commend the volunteers for their quick response to this fire. It is a testament to the dedication of these men and women to see so many fire companies and rescue squads from multiple Counties and States come to the aid of their fellow volunteers and keep our county safe.
