Advisory

Suspicious Workers Identified as being Legitimate

On May 3, 2016, the Davis Police Department received a report that two men in orange safety vests with the City of Davis printed on them spoke with a resident in the 2100 block of Alameda Ave. It was reported that the men claimed to be at the residence to repair the sprinkler timers and that one of the men asked about dogs on the premises. Initially, the City of Davis could not verify these men were City of Davis employees.

Upon further investigation, it has been determined that the two men described in Tuesdays report were legitimate workers but, had responded to the wrong address.

The Davis Police Department would like to remind community members that City of Davis employees carry identification cards and should present them upon request. If those claiming to be City of Davis employees are unable to produce an identification card, the resident can call their associated department to verify the work to be performed at their residence. In addition, the police department can also be called to verify their identity.
