Suspect arrested on Numerous Charges
Tippecanoe County-May 4, 2016 at approximately 12:45 a.m. troopers were deployed to I-65 near the 167 mile marker (that is one mile south of the SR 38/168 mm) in reference to a female who was being chased by a male subject.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Thomas Manning has shown that Briceton M. Stokes, 25 of Indianapolis was in a 2009 black Dodge Charger with the female victim when Stokes allegedly got into a verbal argument which in turn became physical. The victim stopped the car on the interstate, exited the vehicle and started to run. Trooper Manning then arrived at the scene, did a preliminary investigation and placed Stokes into custody. Stokes has been arrested for:
• Criminal Confinement a Level 3 Felony
• Kidnapping a Level 3 Felony
• Sexual Battery a Level 6 Felony
• Battery a level 6 Felony
• Domestic Battery a Class A Misdemeanor
• Strangulation a Level 6 Felony.
He was remanded to the custody of the Tippecanoe County Jail.
Assisting at the scene were Troopers Brad Mull, Steven Grayson, Alaina Zloty, Tippecanoe County EMS and the Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital. The investigation is continuing. This is all the information that will be released at this time. I have no pictures.
Suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
