Man Suffers Burns in Raritan Township House Fire
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski and Raritan Township Police Chief Glen Tabasko announced that investigators from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Task Force, Raritan Township Police Department and the Raritan Township Fire Marshal are investigating a house fire at 118 Old Clinton Road in Raritan Township.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “On May 8th, at approximately 5:26 pm, the Raritan Township Police and Raritan Township Fire Department responded to a 911 call from a passing motorist. Upon arrival first responders found the home engulfed in flames. One male victim was injured in the blaze and was airlifted to the St. Barnabas Hospital Burn Center in Livingston, NJ. The structure sustained extensive fire damage. The cause remains officially undetermined at this time and the investigation is ongoing.”
Two volunteer firefighters were transported to Hunterdon Medical Center after suffering minor injuries while battling the blaze. Emergency crews from the Lebanon Borough Fire Company, Clinton Fire Department, Annandale Fire Department, Milford Fire Department, Quakertown Fire and Rescue, Whitehouse Fire Company, Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad and the South County Tender Task Force also responded to aid in extinguishing the fire.
Prosecutor Kearns added, “I commend our volunteers for their quick response to this fire. There was an overwhelming response by multiple agencies from the area, this is a testament to the dedication of these brave men and women who respond in a moments notice and place themselves in harms way to aid their fellow citizens.”
