Lawrence County Pair Face Drug Charges after Fleeing From Trooper

Martin County: Two Lawrence County residents were jailed on multiple charges after fleeing from a Trooper.

At 1:33 P.M. Sunday, Senior Trooper Jarrod Lents was patrolling US 50 west of Shoals when he observed a red Plymouth Neon traveling at a high rate of speed and without a license plate. After Lents turned on his emergency lights and attempted to pull the Plymouth over, the driver accelerated out of sight of Lents. Lents, after not immediately locating the vehicle, believed that the driver had turned onto Peeks Road off of US 50. Lents drove down Peeks Road to Sanders Lane, both of which are dead end roads, and waited to see if the Plymouth would return towards US 50.

Moments later, the Plymouth approached Lents on Sanders Lane. Lents activated his emergency lights again and blocked the Plymouth from driving around him. The driver, 24 year old Jeremiah Zollman of Bedford, was immediately placed into custody without incident. Lents learned through his investigation that Zollman was in fact attempting to flee from him because the car did not have a license plate.

While searching the Plymouth, Lents found drug paraphernalia and marijuana tucked between the seat of the car in a location that both Zollman and his passenger, 23 year old Miranda Houston of Mitchell, could have accessed it.

Zollman was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle; Zollman and Houston were both charged on multiple drug charges. They were lodged in the Martin County Jail without incident and held on no bond. Lents was assisted by the Martin County Sheriff’s Department
