Homeless Woman Kicks and Spits at Officers
On Monday May 9, 2016 around 7:30 AM, Anderson Police and Fire responded to an illegal camp fire in a homeless camp at Anderson River Park. On arrival, the officers contacted a semi-clothed, 45 year old male Anderson resident and a 44 year old homeless female from Trinity County later identified as Gretchen Forde.
Forde admitted to starting the campfire and using illegal drugs. Forde was displaying signs of being under the influence, refused to leave the park when ordered to do so and became verbally aggressive towards the officers. When the officers attempted to place her into handcuffs she resisted briefly at first and attempted to spit in the face of one of the officers. Once handcuffed and placed in the patrol vehicle, Forde began kicking the doors. Forde was able to unbuckle her seatbelt so the transporting officer had to stop and request assistance in getting her properly restrained. Forde kicked the door into one of the officers as they attempted to get her seatbelt reapplied. Forde also threatened to kill one of the officers. Forde was eventually properly restrained and booked into Shasta County Jail for threatening an officer, assault on an officer, resisting arrest and public intoxication.
The male was cooperative and was advised about his illegal and suspicious activities.
Because no charges are being filed against the male he will not be named for his part in this incident.
