Arrests Made in Attempted Vehicle Theft
An attempted vehicle theft occurred in the early morning hours of May 4, 2016 on Mitchell Ct. in Campbell. Residential surveillance video showed two suspects entering unlocked vehicles and attempting to steal one of the vehicles before both suspects left the area. The video (https://youtu.be/v0ME7iOYD0w) was shared by the Campbell Police on social media on May 5, 2016.
On Sunday, May 8, 2016 at 8:20 AM, the Campbell Police Department was notified that Yiselle Breceda, age 22 of San Jose and Leo Carbajal, age 23 (transient), had been arrested by San Jose Police Department for unrelated charges. They had contacted both subjects after receiving a report that a male and female resembled the suspects seen in the surveillance video released by the Campbell Police Department.
After subsequent investigation, both suspects were found to be in possession of clothing matching what was seen in the surveillance video and evidence linked them to the break-ins. Breceda and Carbajal were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for attempted vehicle theft, grand theft, and conspiracy. Both are currently in-custody and will be arraigned on May 11, 2016.
The Campbell Police Department appreciates the assistance of the public in identifying these suspects. We encourage Campbell community members to register their surveillance cameras on our new camera registry that can be found on our website (http://www.ci.campbell.ca.us/686/Camera-Registry) or our mobile application (Campbell Police Department), downloadable from iTunes or Google Play.
