ISP Traffic Stop Leads to Nine Kilos of Cocaine
Indianapolis, IN- A Chicago man is in jail facing felony drug charges after troopers found suspected cocaine in the vehicle he was operating during a traffic stop in Indianapolis.
This afternoon, May 10, 2016 at approximately 5:20 p.m., troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 Jeep Cherokee after it was observed following another vehicle too closely on I-70 EB at the 93mm.
During the course of the traffic stop and while speaking to the driver, Bertin Mendoza, 22, of Chicago, troopers observed indicators of possible criminal activity. An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer deployed his K-9 partner on the vehicle that resulted in a positive alert. A search of the vehicle by officers resulted in locating nine, individually wrapped, kilograms of suspected cocaine hidden in the rear of the vehicle.
Mendoza was arrested and transported to the Marion County Adult Processing Center for possession of cocaine, level 6 felony and dealing cocaine, level 4 felony.
