UPDATE-Driver In Triple Fatality Was Intoxicated At Time Of Crash
Ripley County-Yesterday, investigators received the toxicology results back from a triple fatality that occurred at 1:30 a.m. on April 5th, 2016 on US 50 at County Road 300 West which showed the driver of one of the vehicles was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
In that crash, a 2003 Buick passenger car being driven by Andre N. Devant, age 31, Cincinnati, OH was traveling southbound on County Road 300 West when he pulled into the path of a 2007 International tractor-trailer traveling eastbound on US 50 that was being driven by Alexander K. Benge, age 37, Shoals, IN. As a result of the collision, Devant and his two passengers, Margaret A. Guinn, age 27, and Aaliyah Guinn, age 3, both of Cincinnati, OH were killed in the crash.
Toxicology results on Andre Devant showed that he was intoxicated at the time of the crash with a BAC of .19%, which is over two times the legal limit in the State of Indiana. Devant also tested positive for marijuana. Toxicology results also showed that Margaret Guinn had a BAC of .22%.
The toxicology results on Alexander Benge are still pending at this time.
