RUPD Crime Alert (off-campus)
Attention Rutgers Community,
The Rutgers University Police Department was notified of a robbery which is being investigated by the NJIT Police Department. The incident was reported to have occurred Wednesday May 11, 2016 at approximately 1:15 PM, near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. and New Street in Newark.
In this incident, the victim, who is un-affiliated, reported that he was approached by a single assailant who made a verbal demand to turn over personal property, to which the victim complied. The assailant then fled the area on foot in a northbound direction on MLK Blvd. No weapons were shown and no injuries were sustained to the victim.
The description of the assailant is as follows: black male, approximately 17-20 years of age, short stature, bald head, wearing a white t-shirt, black track style pants, and white shoes.
