INCIDENT: PC 187 Murder

LOCATION: 2100 block of E. State Lane, Erwin Lake (Big Bear City)

VICTIM: Adult Male – name withheld pending notification of next of kin

SUSPECT: Joseph Vaughn, age 46 a resident of Big Bear City

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at approximately 2:05 p.m., deputies from the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station responded to the report of a stabbing in the area of the 2100 block of E. State Lane. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim who was suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Witnesses advised deputies that a male suspect had fled the location of the stabbing and was believed to be at a residence in the 2100 block of E. Third Lane. Deputies responded to that location and located the male suspect. The suspect was identified as Joseph Vaughn and he was immediately detained by deputies.

Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail responded to the location to conduct the investigation. Through investigation, Joseph Vaughn was determined to be responsible for the death of the victim. Vaughn was arrested without incident, transported and booked into the Big Bear Jail for PC 187 Murder.
