Trooper Finds Methamphetamine, Paraphernalia During Traffic Stop
Daviess County (Odon): An Oaktown, Indiana man spent the night in the Daviess County Security Center after being caught with illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession.
At 11:52 P.M. Tuesday, Trooper Mitch Wier observed a silver Chrysler 300 sedan traveling south on Grove Street in Odon, traveling down the middle of the roadway. Trooper Wier conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, 36 year old Charles L. Jones, Jr. of Oaktown. During the course of the traffic stop, Trooper Wier requested the assistance of Daviess County Deputy Tyler Ramsey and his K9 partner Storm to conduct an open-air search around the Chrysler. K9 Storm positively indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle, giving officers probable cause to search.
While searching the vehicle, officers found multiple scales, and a subsequent search of Jones revealed crystal methamphetamine wrapped in rag. As officers continued to speak with Jones, two additional baggies of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe fell from Jones’s pant leg. Officers later learned that Jones was on his way to a residence in Odon to deliver the methamphetamine prior to being pulled over.
Jones was transported to and lodged in the Daviess County Security Center without incident on charges of possessing and dealing methamphetamine, possessing drug paraphernalia, false informing, and maintaining a common nuisance.
