DUI driver arrested after police pursuit
On May 18th, 2016, at approximately 6:40 pm, a Sebastopol Police Officer saw two vehicles enter a dead end street at a high rate of speed. The street adjoined the parking lot of CVS on Gravenstein Highway North. As the Officer followed the vehicles into that parking lot, the driver of one of the vehicle's flagged the Officer down and indicated that the other vehicle, driven by Alexander Alessio Easley, age 25 of Santa Rosa, had been following him in what may have been a road rage type incident.
As the Officer motioned for Easley to stop, Easley sped off through the parking lot, nearly missing two pedestrians. The officer activated his lights and siren and attempted to catch up to Easley, who accelerated from the scene on northbound Gravenstein Highway North.
The Officer pursued Easley. After passing Twin Pine Lane, Easley lost control of his vehicle and slid off the roadway and into the ditch on the road shoulder. Upon the Officer's approach, Easley again accelerated away, although his vehicle had been damaged.
The pursuit continued onto eastbound Occidental Road. There, Easley stopped and opened the driver's door of his vehicle. He repeatedly yelled for the officer to shoot him. Upon the arrival of a back-up Officer, Easley was taken into custody.
During the Officer's contact with him, he exhibited signs of intoxication. A DUI investigation revealed that he was under the influence of alcohol and had a BAC of .184%, over twice the legal limit.
Easley was booked at the Sonoma County Jail for DUI and Felony Evading.
