Criminal Mischief: Sometime after 9pm, someone knocked over the “Bear Paw” 4’ x 8’ sign down. There was no damage to the sign.
Missing Person: A Mother reported her daughter missing. She spoke with her on Thursday but has not been able to contact her since. An Officer was able to locate and talk with the subject. She contacted her Mother and was going to get a ride back to Anchorage.
Agency Assist: Officers assisted the Fire Department with a fire complaint.
MICS Marijuana: Contraband was found on school grounds. A juvenile was later identified as the owner and the parents were contacted.

Disturbance Other: A woman requested an Officer after she and her ex got into it and he wouldn’t let her leave the residence. Officers responded to talk to both parties involved. Upon further investigation no crime was committed and both parties were separated for the night.
Theft Property: A person reported the theft of his license plates from his vehicle. An Officer talked to the complainant and advised him to request new plates from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Traffic Complaint: A report of a 1985-1995 blue Nisson Pathfinder speeding in and out of the closed Alpetco Road area was received. Also, a burned vehicle in the area was found. This case is currently under investigation.
Traffic Complaint: Caller reported that a red car with no hood was tearing up the snow dump area. Officers made contact with the driver who said they would not do it anymore.
Animal at Large: Dispatch received a call that a pit bull was chasing kids around the park at the end of Gulkana Street. Animal Control responded and impounded the dog.

Traffic Complaint: One of the construction contractors reported that vehicles are speeding through the work zone and running the red light.
Panic Alarm: An alarm from a local business was reported. Officers responded and determined that a new employee had pressed the button on accident.
Lost Property: An Iphone 5C was reported lost in the Valdez area. If you have found this phone, please turn it in to the Valdez Police Department.
Traffic Complaint: A caller reported that he and a friend were walking on the bike path and was almost hit by a male on a yellow dirt bike. After talking with several people in the area, the suspect could not be located.
Lost Property: Caller reported that his friend last a small camera bag with a memory chip in it, either around the Worthington Glacier area or in Valdez. If you have found this item, please turn it into the Police Department.
Fraud: VPD received a fraud report involving Western Union. This case is under investigation.

Welfare Check: A check was requested on an individual when his neighbor noticed that the individual’s dog was running around all night. The individual was contacted and determined to be fine.
Traffic Complaint: A caller reported that a pickup swerved at him and a friend as it sped towards them. This case is under investigation.
Drug Paraphernalia: A marijuana pipe was confiscated from a juvenile at school. Parents were contacted.
Intoxicated Pedestrians: A caller reported three males were near her residence and seemed to be very intoxicated. One was lying on the ground and the other two were stumbling. The caller did not think they could make it home safe. Officers responded but could not locate anyone.

Disturbance: Dispatch received a report that two men were in a physical altercation behind the post office. The caller told them she was calling the police and the two men immediately left.
Reckless Driving Complaint: A caller reported that a red Honda Gold wing motorcycle passed two vehicles on the tide flats and they felt the driver was being reckless. Officers responded but did not locate the motorcycle.
Arrested: David R. Davis, DOB: 1/18/96, of Valdez on a Valdez Arrest Warrant for Arson 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Failure to Report/Control a Fire after Mr. Davis had confessed to burning a vehicle. He is being held at the Valdez Jail on a $5,000 bail.

Welfare Check: While on patrol, an officer noticed an individual slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle. The officer made contact with the person who indicated they were just resting waiting for assistance for a tow truck.
Welfare Check: A caller requested officer’s check on two young boys playing on the dike next to the river. The caller was concerned that they would fall in the river. The officers made contact with the boys. It was determined that the boys were with their parents.

Theft of Property: An engagement ring was reported either lost or stolen. The complainant later called back to say he had found the ring.
Search & Rescue: VPD dispatch received report that an individual had been gone for over an hour on a jet ski at Robe Lake. The complainant ended up making contact with the person who said that he had engine troubles and had tried to swim back, and ended up on an island on the lake. He was in contact with responders and was ok.
