Murder and Assault By Strangulation arrest
DATE AND TIME: Approximately 7:16 PM on May 23, 2016. LOCATION: Berridge Road south of Fenwick Road, Eureka Township AUTHORITY/CONTACT PERSON: Undersheriff Michael J. Williams
Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded to United Memorial Hospital in Greenville regarding an assault victim. The victim was transported to Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids and the suspect was initially arrested for aggravated assault and lodged at the Montcalm County Jail.
At approximately 7:16 PM on May 23, 2016, two people were travelling on Berridge Road south of Fenwick Road in search of morel mushrooms when they heard a female calling for help. The two found the woman, a 19 year old woman from Crystal, and she was badly injured so the two took her to United Memorial Hospital for treatment. The Crystal woman told the deputy that she was travelling with a man
in his car and that a disagreement arose between the two. The woman reported that the man became irate and began to assault her including strangling her and pushing her out of his vehicle. The victim was flown to Spectrum in Grand Rapids via Aeromed.
The male, identified as Devin Sebastian Tumbleson age 28 from Belding, was charged with Assault With Intent To Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder and Assault By Strangulation. Tumbleson was arraigned this afternoon and he remains behind bars with a $25,000.00 bond.
The two were known to one another however were not involved in an intimate relationship.
The Crystal woman remains in the hospital listed in Critical Condition.

Office
The case remains under investigation.
