A Message from the Anderson Police Department
A Message from the Anderson Police Department
With the warmer season approaching, the Anderson Police Department would like to remind residents to take extra care to secure and lock-up. Generally, law enforcement receives an upsurge in theft reporting during the spring and summer months. This is partly due to the weather being more conducive to outside activity.
Anderson Police are taking reports currently on multiple thefts from unlocked vehicles both at residences and in public off highway parking facilities such as retail stores. These thefts generally occur during the late night and early morning hours of darkness. Remember to always lock your vehicles! This prevents thefts of property from inside your vehicle and it also prevents vehicle theft. If possible, try not to store valuable property inside your vehicle and do not leave documentation in your vehicle that contains super sensitive personal identifying information.
This is the time of year to remain vigilant for theft related activity. Stay on the look-out for suspicious subjects loitering in neighborhoods and/or parking-lots and report these sightings to us as soon as possible. Don’t wait! The Anderson Police Department is a progressive, proactive agency that desires to deter crime through education and awareness. For any questions regarding this release, please contact Sgt. Casey Day.
