A new sign with a Slow Down message was installed on Bodega Avenue near Valley View Drive.
Today, Assistant Public Works Superintendent Dante Del Prete and Police Chief Jeff Weaver joined Mayor Sarah Gurney to celebrate the installation of a new welcoming sign on Bodega Avenue near the City Limits. The sign welcomes drivers to Sebastopol and asks that they slow down.
Similar signs will be posted at the City Limits on Gravenstein Highway North, Gravenstein Highway South, and State Route 12 (Sebastopol Avenue).
The installation of these signs is part of a comprehensive effort to improve pedestrian, bicycle, and traffic safety in Sebastopol. Other recent efforts include the installation of electronic speed awareness signs on Bodega Avenue and improved signage along the Bodega Avenue corridor.
Recently the City Council authorized a traffic study for the entire Bodega Avenue corridor, seeking steps that can be taken to further enhance pedestrian, bicycle, and traffic safety.
