Problem Oriented Policing Unit Targets Recent Thefts
On Friday, May 27th 2016, at about 2100 hours, the Anderson Police Departments P.O.P. Team began targeting the first of several locations in Anderson where thefts and other criminal activity have been on the rise. Using under cover personnel, K-9 Chance, and uniformed personnel, 22 contacts were made near the Wal-Mart shopping center located in the 5000 block of Rhonda Road.
Of the 22 contacts, 7 arrests were made. 4 arrests were made for narcotic violations, 1 arrest was made for theft, and two miscellaneous arrests were made, 1 for warrants and 1 for traffic related offenses. A number of searches were conducted as well. Quantities of Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and stolen property were seized.
The Problem Oriented Policing Unit will be conducting several proactive enforcement details in different locations throughout the City of Anderson. The goal is to deter criminal activity and hold offenders accountable through aggressive enforcement.
