Indiana State Police K9 Alerts on Traffic Stop in Greene County, Felony Charges Follow
Jasonville (Greene County) – Last night at 8:30 pm, ISP Troopers Richard Klun and Nicholas Bartalone conducted a traffic stop on State Road 59 near County Road 900 North, on a 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix. Trooper Klun was able to identify the female driver as Nichole Haldeman, 32, of Linton, who he had prior knowledge of her driving privileges being suspended. Troopers also identified the other passengers in the vehicle as Anthony Settles, 34, of Palestine Illinois and Amanda Gibson, 33, of Linton.
While Trooper Bartalone was completing the traffic stop, Trooper Klun performed a free air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle with his K9 partner Loki. K9 Loki gave a positive alert for the odor of a controlled substance coming from inside the vehicle.
Multiple items of paraphernalia, methamphetamine, marijuana and diverted prescription medications were then located inside the car. After interviewing all three subjects, a search warrant was obtained for Haldeman’s person that resulted in locating approximately 11 grams of methamphetamine in a body cavity.
