Power outage affecting areas of Signal Hill. SCE is working on restoring power. 
Today at approximately 4:23 pm an electric transformer exploded at Burnett Street and Gundry Avenue causing an electrical pole to catch fire. Los Angeles County Fire Station 60, Southern California Edison, and Signal Hill Public Works responded. The streets were blocked off until SCE could shut the power off to the downed lines.
The transformer explosion caused a power outage along Burnett Street between Walnut Avenue and California Avenue and appeared to have affected mostly the south side of Burnett Street.
At 6:00 pm, SCE estimated it would take about two to three hours for power to be repaired and restored.
Residents affected by the power outage are encouraged to download the Southern California Edison “MY SCE” Android/Apple app to get updated information.
