***FATALITY HIT & RUN UPDATE***
On 5/25/2016, the Red Oak Police Department released a press release in reference to a hit and run fatality that occurred in the 200 block of E. Ovilla Road (FM 664) during the early morning hours of 5/22/2016. The hit and run accident claimed the life of Betsy Sue McClelland of Red Oak.
The Red Oak Police Department released a video from one of the nearby surveillance cameras showing what the Red Oak Police Department believes to be the collision on Ovilla road. The surveillance video is poor quality but shows a suspect vehicle that appears to be a dark colored pickup (unknown make and model) stop where the accident occurred and pull into the nearby parking lot. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene after the accident and failed to render aid to the victim. This video can be viewed at https://youtu.be/YE8605uiiic.
The Red Oak Police Department has also been contacted by businesses wanting to help bring the suspect to justice.
• Representatives from Oak Farms Dairy have graciously offered a $10,000.00 reward that leads to the arrest and indictment of the subject responsible for the offense.
• Representatives from Renfro Glass have graciously offered a $1,000.00 reward that leads to the arrest and indictment of the subject responsible for the offense.
The Red Oak Police Department Criminal Investigation Division continues to process video evidence from nearby surveillance cameras as well as tips that have been communicated to the criminal investigation division by the public.
