WOMAN WITH TWO KNIVES ENTERS POLICE STATION IN AGGRESSIVE MANNER
On Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at approximately 9:15 p.m., a woman entered the front doors at police headquarters holding two knives above her head. The only other person inside the lobby area during this encounter was the front desk officer. The officer began giving commands to the woman to drop the knives. The woman walked towards the front desk officer who was separated by a large desk partition and the lobby area. The officer called for immediate assistance and began telling the woman to back away and drop the knives. The woman refused to comply with the officer’s commands.
The woman began making thrusting motions towards the officer with the knives. The officer remained calm and waited for additional officers to arrive. As several officers arrived, they formulated a plan and began yelling commands to her as well to drop the weapons but she would not drop the knives. One officer was able to get into position and deployed his taser to de-escalate the situation and safely take the woman into custody. No one was injured during this encounter and the woman was arrested. Patricia Sayan, 28 years of age of Arlington, remains in the Arlington Jail on one count of Terroristic Threat.
