On May 28, 2016, at approximately 8:15am, Hope Mills Police Officers responded to the dirt road portion of McKinnon Farm Road regarding a victim in medical distress. Upon arrival on-scene, Officers found a deceased male who appeared to be a victim of a gunshot wound. During the course of the investigation into this homicide, Detectives developed information that the homicide was drug related and that the victim, who was a 16 year old juvenile, was taken by force from a friend’s residence and eventually transported to the location where his body was found and killed. At this time, the Hope Mills Police Department does not intend to release the name of the victim due to his age. Also, during their investigation, Detectives identified three subjects that were directly involved in the murder of the victim and, on the evening of Thursday, June 2, 2016, Hope Mills Police Detectives located the subjects in the 2700 block of Alden Drive in Fayetteville and, took them into custody with the assistance of the Fayetteville Police Department. The following subjects were transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center where two of them are being held without bond pending a first appearance before a District Court Judge.

This investigation is ongoing and, more arrests are likely of individuals indirectly involved with this crime.
