On Friday June 3, 2016 at 11:30am the Burlington Police received a report of an armed robbery at the Citizens bank on College Street in Burlington. Officers arrived on scene quickly and were able to obtain very clear suspect description which was relayed to all officers working at the time. The suspect made statements that he had a handgun however no weapon was ever displayed at the time of the robbery. No weapon was ever located during the course of the investigation.
A short time later, Officers located a suspect who matched the description walking near the police department on North Avenue in Burlington. The subject was detained and further Investigation revealed that the subject, identified as James Bristol, was the person who had attempted to rob the Citizen’s Bank just minutes earlier.
Bristol was lodged at the Chittenden regional Correctional facility.
