La Porte County-All east bound lanes of traffic at the 42 mile marker (this is two miles east of the US 421 exit) on the Indiana Toll Road are closed for a fatal crash. Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 3:16 p.m., this afternoon, one semi rear ended another semi at that location causing one of the semis to catch fire.
There is one confirmed fatality. Police and fire personnel are on scene at this time.
ALL LANES EAST BOUND ARE CLOSED AT THIS LOCATION.
Traffic east bound is being diverted off at the 31 mile marker (SR 49) and 39 mile marker (US 421). Please seek alternate routes and avoid this area if at all possible. Expect long delays and traffic back-ups. It is unknown at this time how long the road will be closed.
