On Sunday, at 8:09pm, Officer Villanueva heard what sounded like squealing car tires. He could smell burnt rubber and see smoke in the area of Jewell Avenue and Bodega Avenue. Officer Villanueva drove to the area located a pickup truck facing the wrong direction on southbound Jewell Avenue, across from the Sebastopol Fire Department. The pickup had fresh damage to the front. Several long sections of burnt tire tread could be seen down Jewell Avenue, passing Willow Street, to the truck's point of rest. The pickup had apparently struck a large tree in the center island of Jewell Avenue, at Bodega Avenue, forcing it the wrong direction and disabling it.

The subject resisted during the arrest and booking process, injuring an officer. The officer sustained a minor injury.

The driver, Cody Alan Beaver, age 24 from Santa Rosa, was arrested for DUI, obstructing a peace officer, battery of a peace officer, driving on a suspended license, and an active arrest warrant. This is Beaver's second DUI arrest in California, with a third driving under the influence conviction located in Indiana.
