SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Car/bicycle personal injury crash
DATE AND TIME: Approximately 7:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2016
LOCATION: Sidney Road east of Town Hall Road, Evergreen Township
Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a car/bicycle crash on Sidney Road near Town Hall Road in Evergreen Township at approximately 7:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2016.
The crash occurred when the mirror of a westbound vehicle struck a bicyclist who was also headed west. The westbound vehicle was a 2011 Ford Escape driven by Lori Pollock, age 52 from Stanton. The bicyclist was identified as Jason Barrus, age 40 from Sheridan. Barrus went by private vehicle to United Memorial Hospital for treatment for minor injuries.
Speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash and neither person had been drinking. The section of roadway where the crash occurred is hilly with several shadows stretching across the road at that time of day and those may have been contributing factors.
Also assisting at the scene was the Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services.
