Chief for a Day Diego A. Estrada
Chief Martin M. Kahn thanks all those involved to make the Chief for a Day celebration a success. The Chief for a Day was Diego A. Estrada, 1st grade student in the #3 School Annex. Chief Estrada suffers from Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome which is a rare genetic disorder which causes children to age rapidly.
Chief Estrada was celebrated along with other children around Bergen County on June 3rd. The program is sponsored by Sheriff Michael Saudino. This was te 6th annual Chief for a Day Celebration.
The day started off with Chief Diego reporting to duty at the Fairview Police Department in full uniform, touring the police department, meeting all his officers, and learning about the daily duties of the officers. It was followed by a group photo on the steps of the Bergen County Justice Center in Hackensack and a full police motorcade to the Venetian in Garfield where all the recipients were celebrated. There was a DJ with live music, clowns making toys out of balloons and a funny-face photo booth. All celebrants were then awarded gifts for their participation. The keynote speaker at the event was Stephen Baker "The Touchdown Maker".
Special donations were made to the gift basket for Chief Estrada by LEGOLAND Discovery in Westchester County @LDCWestchester and Sport Inc 2000 @SportsInc2000. Chief Estrada will be enjoying family getaways with his family at LEGOLAND Discovery in Yonkers and take in a Mets game at CitiField thanks to these two supportive businesses.
If you see Chief Estrada around town say hello and give him a salute.
