The Cannelton Police Department has made an arrest following vehicle break-ins at Hafele Riverfront Park.
The first report was made June 2nd. This was followed by a second report on June 6th. Both break-ins occurred after people had put their boats on the water at the boat ramp and left the area. On June 7th Patrolman R. Foertsch was patrolling the area when he witnessed Justin L. Melton, 21 of Cannelton, breaking into a third vehicle and removing items. Melton was arrested on scene. Police are investigating to determine if Melton is connected to the first two break-ins.
Melton was incarcerated at the Perry County Detention Center on the following charges:
Theft
Criminal Mischief
Unauthorized Entry of a Motor Vehicle
