Passing of Police K9 NICKO
It is with deep regret Sheriff Gene L. Wriggelsworth announces the passing of Police K9 NICKO. NICKO passed away June 9th from complications of post Colonic Torsion surgery.
NICKO was 6 years old and a member of the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office for 5 years. NICKO’S duties consisted of Explosive detection and Patrol work. NICKO’S partner was Deputy Chad Doyle, (an 8 year veteran), and both were members of the Ingham Regional Special Response Team (SRT).
Throughout their career they assisted every Police Agency in Ingham County, including the FBI, DEA, US MARSHALS and Homeland Security with Fugitive Apprehensions and Explosive Detection Sweeps. K9 NICKO had also assisted the Secret Service with a Presidential detail. NICKO will not only be mourned by his Family and co-workers, but also the many area Children that he conducted demonstrations for.
The thoughts, prayers and appreciation for the service of this K-9 Team from the members of the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office go out to Deputy Doyle, Police K-9 NICKO and the Doyle family.
