SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Personal Injury crash involving an ATV

At approximately 2:08 on Saturday, June 11, 2016 near the intersection of Lake and Mill Streets in Crystal Township, the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a rollover crash involving an ATV.

The initial report indicated that an ATV had crashed and that the driver was pinned underneath it. Upon arrival the deputy arrived to find the driver sitting on the ground next to the ATV.

The investigation revealed that the 2004 Honda Sportrax ATV being driven by a 36 year old Crystal man was travelling east on Lake Street. It appears the driver lost control causing the ATV to overturn. The driver was thrown from the ATV and when the ATV came to a rest, it was upright on top of the driver. The driver was transported to Sparrow Carson Hospital where he was admitted for treatment of the injuries sustained during the crash.

Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash which remains under investigation and the driver was not wearing a helmet.

The Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.
