Two subjects arrested after committing a series of overnight vehicle burglaries .
On June 13, 2016 at approximately 3:35 AM, as a result of an increase in overnight vehicle burglaries, Covina Police Officers deployed an unmarked police unit and began surveillance in a designated area of the city. While in the area, an undercover officer observed a suspicious vehicle driving slowly within the designated area. The undercover officer directed patrol officers to the vehicle and the occupants of the vehicle were contacted in the 800 block of N. Elspeth. When the officers contacted the occupants, officers observed several pieces of property within the vehicle belonging to others, including property that was taken during a “hot prowl” residential burglary that was reported in the City of Azusa, as well as other property that was taken in vehicle burglaries reported from surrounding communities.
The driver of the vehicle, Alejandro Alfred Salazar (38-year-old resident of San Dimas) and his passenger, Leticia Sandoval (35-year-old resident of Ontario) were arrested on a variety of theft and narcotics related felony charges. Both suspects were transported to the Covina Police Department where they are each being housed on $20,000 bail pending their arraignment at Citrus Superior Court on June 15, 2016.
