MAN SENTENCED TO 3 YEARS IN STATE PRISON FOR BURGLARY AND RESISTING ARREST
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III announced the sentencing of Curtiss Niece to 3 years in state prison.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “On July 2, 2015, State Troopers from the Kingwood Barracks were dispatched to a residence on Route 519 in Alexandria Township after Mr. Niece broke into a residence, threatened the occupants with a knife, destroyed the contents of the residence, lit a mattress on fire, and then fled the area on foot. Mr. Niece was taken into custody by the Holland Township Officer Police Department and the State Police after physically resisting arrest.”
Mr. Niece pled guilty on April 28, 2016, to one count of third degree burglary and one count of third degree resisting arrest related to two separate incidents. During the June 10th sentencing, Mr. Niece was ordered to pay the State of New Jersey restitution in the amount of $180 for damage he caused to a troop vehicle during one of his arrests.
