***UPDATE***

The Sheriff’s Office received several tips regarding the identity of the suspect involved in this fraudulent use of a credit card investigation. The suspect was quickly located and arrested.

Ross Martin Towne, age 32 from Sheridan, was identified and contacted at his home. Statements made by Towne and evidence at his home led to his arrest on Friday, June 10, 2016. Towne has been arraigned on charges of possessing a financial transaction device without the consent of the device holder, the illegal use of a financial transaction device, retaining a financial transaction device without consent, and being a habitual offender. He is currently being held with a $10,000.00 bond and parole detainer.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the citizens who responded to the news and social media posts. Several people quickly recognized the photographs and shared that information. Most crimes are solved by individuals who are willing to work with law enforcement officials and this is a clear example on what can be accomplished when deputies and the community work together to create a safer environment.
