Kidnapping Investigation Leads to Arrest of Indianapolis Man
Indianapolis - Just after 6:00 p.m. Monday June 13th, the Indiana State Police Indianapolis Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a possible abduction of an adult male. The caller reported a male subject forced a male inside a truck at gunpoint and drove away. The caller continued to follow the suspect truck and provided updated location information to the dispatcher. As the truck traveled south on I-65 into Johnson County it was stopped by officers from the Franklin Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff's Department. Since the original crime occurred in Marion County the Indiana State Police responded to the scene to investigate.
During the course of the investigation it was determined this was not a random abduction and the victim and suspect were known to one another. At this point one suspect was arrested on unrelated warrants out of Marion County. The other occupants of the truck, as well as the victim, were questioned by police and released. A stolen gun was recovered from the vehicle under the seat occupied by the arrested suspect.
Arrested: James Crittenden of Indianapolis, 27 years old, wanted on warrants for possession of cocaine, and conversion.
Any further criminal charges will be reviewed and filed by the Marion County Prosecutor's Office. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
