GCSO to conduct DWI Checkpoint tonight in Greene County, focusing on removing impaired drivers & making roads safer
The Greene County Sheriff's Office is conducting a DWI Checkpoint on Friday, June 17, 2016, to focus on removing impaired drivers and making our roadways safer; funding is provided through a grant awarded by MoDOT.
In 2015, 212 people were killed and 3,178 seriously injured in crashes involving an impaired driver in Missouri. During 2015 in Greene County, 2 people were killed and 38 people were seriously injured by an impaired driver. (statistics from Missouri State Highway Patrol)
"The only safe driver is a completely sober driver," reminds Sheriff Jim Arnott. "The risks and consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs aren't worth it - you could be arrested, lose your driver's license, hurt yourself or, in the worst case scenario, hurt someone else."
