Traffic Stop For Speeding Leads to Felony Arrest

Henry County – Yesterday afternoon, around 3:30 p.m. Trooper Blake Stephenson was eastbound on SR38, near Raider Road in western Henry County, when he saw an approaching west bound black Ford Pickup traveling faster than the 55 M.P.H. speed limit.

Trooper Stephenson got a radar clock on the truck, then turned his fully marked car around and got the pickup stopped after it turned north on Mechanicsburg Rd. After making contact with the driver, Danny Frye Jr., age 45 of Goldsmith, Indiana, and further investigation, it was discovered that Frye was operating while suspended, as a Habitual Traffic Violator.

Trooper Justin Beamon was nearby and came to assist Stephenson with the stop. The Ford truck, which had a registration plate that expired in 2014, was inventoried prior to being impounded for the expired plate. During that inventory officers turned up a loaded .45 caliber pistol, and a loaded .25 caliber pistol.

Frye was arrested for Operating a Vehicle as a Habitual Traffic Violator, Level 6 Felony, and Carrying a Handgun without a Permit, Class “A” Misdemeanor. He was lodged in the Henry County Jail.
