Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and Readington Township Police Chief Sebastian Donaruma announced the arrest of one individual.
According to Chief Donaruma, “On Sunday, June 19th, at approximately 7:50PM, Readington Township and Branchburg Township Police responded to County Line Road for an assault in progress. A passerby called 9-1-1 and intervened to help the victim. The offender, Christopher Arena, age 44, of Neshanic Station, was arrested by responding Branchburg Police Officers and turned over to the Readington Township Police. The victim was transported to RWJ Somerset Medical Center for treatment.”
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “The defendant has been charged with 2nd Degree Aggravated Assault by Readington and DWI by Branchburg Township Police. The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit also assisted. The victim was treated and released from the hospital. Bail was set at $35,000 by the Honorable Gerard Shamy, J.M.C. and the defendant was lodged at the Somerset County Jail.”
