Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott announces results from DWI Checkpoint
On Friday, June 17, 2016, the Greene County Sheriff's Office conducted a DWI Checkpoint in the area of East US Highway 60 and Jamestown Boulevard. A total of 758 vehicles were stopped during this proactive enforcement effort to remove impaired drivers from our roadways. The results are as follows:
2 - arrests for Driving While Intoxicated
1 - arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance
1 - arrest for Possession of <35 grams of Marijuana
4 - arrests for Driving While License Revoked or Suspended
"Just removing one impaired driver could mean you and your family are able to get home safely tonight," states Sheriff Jim Arnott. "We look at these numbers and can still see success - people are being responsible and choosing to have a sober driver, choosing not to be behind the wheel."
The DWI Checkpoint was made possible thru a grant awarded by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT).
