“Operation Dry Water” Begins this weekend at Pyramid and Castaic Lakes
“Operation Dry Water” Begins this weekend at Pyramid and Castaic Lakes #LASD @SCT
From June 24, 2016, through June 26, 2016, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Parks Bureau will participate in “Operation Dry Water.” Operation Dry Water is a nationwide education and enforcement initiative launched by
The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators in partnership
with the U.S. Coast Guard. “Operation Dry Water” takes place just before the Fourth of
July, a holiday known for drinking and boating, and deadly accidents.
With boating under the influence (B.U.I.) continuing to be a major factor in accidents and deaths on our nation’s waterways, thousands of officers with local, state, and federal agencies team up for “Operation Dry Water” in a coordinated effort to be on the water providing heightened enforcement and awareness about the dangers of boating while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The Sheriff’s Department will increase its presence at both the Castaic and Pyramid Lakes during “Operation Dry Water” by conducting traffic stops and B.U.I. sobriety check points.
For additional information, contact Sergeant Roger Wallace at (661) 257-4362, Sergeant Brian Lendman at (661) 257-0881 or go to http://www.operationdrywater.org.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Parks Bureau is dedicated to providing a safe and drug free environment at all Los Angeles County Parks.
